QS World University Rankings - But where is my University? :s

QS (Quacquarelli Symonds), A world leading career and education network has published QS World University Rankings today and I personally believe that in a age where globalisation of education is given so much emphasis, these rankings can prove to be a great benchmark to compare education standards in different countries.

According to the Institute of International Education, the number of students going to university abroad has jumped from fewer than 2 million in 2000 to more than 3 million in 2010. This clearly justifies the need to set standards for which rankings are essential.

The increase in the number of students pursuing university abroad is clearly influenced by enormous increases from certain regions. One can point on countries like India, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Ghana and say that there has been massive contributions from these regions, certainly India. She has one of the world’s largest higher education systems - with more than 350 universities, 16,000 colleges, and a student population of over 12 million. India also contributes over 120,000 students a year to universities in the US, Australia and UK alone.

I believe it makes people like me feel good if their university's name is seen on the list. And at the same time, it also inspires students who are planning to study at a certain University.

Here's a list of the top 10 Universities across subjects,
